About

    Performer and teacher.

New York based soprano Rachel Duval spent the last 6 years growing, learning, and debuting in Barcelona, Spain. She gained national attention when she was selected as the best and only classical singer for the Spanish National Television (TVE) program Insuperables (trans. Unbeatables) singing Musical Theatre and Opera works, and viewed by over 5 million Spaniards. Her voice caught the attention of Spanish-American composer Nilda Scalisé and she will debut Maestra Scalisé’s work, “A Symphony of Poems” in 2017. On the stage, Rachel has performed in various operas with the Barcelona Opera Studio, singing Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice, Gluck), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni, Mozart), and La Contessa Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart). She has been singing concerts throughout Barcelona and Catalunya steadily for the last 6 years. In May 2016 Rachel made her American debut singing Paula in Héctor Armienta’s new work, Rio de Mujeres (River of Women) in San Jose, CA with Maestro Vladimir Gomez. She then had the honor of being the only Young Artist selected to sing a lead role, Rosalba, in Emerald City Opera’s production of Florencia en el Amazonas in July 2016 under Maestro Andrés Cladera. In February 2017 Rachel made her New York debut singing Angelica in Handel’s Orlando with the Cantanti Project at the National Opera Center.

Rachel is thrilled to be joining the cast of STOMPING GROUNDS, a new opera by Paige Hernandez and Victor Simonson at the Glimmerglass Festival this August 2017.
