Ken Aiso is internationally recognized as one of today’s most musical and versatile violinists. His playing is praised not only for his singularly beautiful tone, but also for the unique atmosphere of intimacy he evokes as he draws in his audiences.
A prizewinner of the Long-Thibaud Concours in Paris and the International Music Competition of Japan in Tokyo, Mr. Aiso has appeared as a soloist in televised and broadcast concerts with orcherstras such as the BBC Symphony, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Tokyo Symphony.
As recitalist and chamber musician, Ken has performed widely in Europe, the US and Japan with appearances at prestigious concert halls including Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore and Queen Elizabeth Halls in London, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, Salle Pleyel and Salle Gaveau in Paris, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
In 2003 he was honoured to appear before the Emperor and Empress of Japan and in 2004 he founded the critically acclaimed AISO Quartet.
Ken has been invited to renowned international festivals including Manuhin, Cheltenham, Aldeburgh, and IMS Prussia Cove, and he has collaborated withSteven Isserlis, Nelson Goerner, Lynn Harrell, David Leisner and John Surman amongst others.
He received his musical education in Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music; Meadows School of Arts in Dallas, USA; University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA; Royal Academy of Music, London, Uk, where he was elected an Associate in 2005. He studied with Chikashi Tanaka, Eduard Schmieder and Erich Gruenberg as well as receiving tuition in masterclassas from Ruggiero Ricci, Ida Haendel, Ivry Gitlis, Abram Shtern and Ferenc Rados.
His empathy with contemporary music has resulted in several commissions and premieres of works by Alasdair Nicolson, Jonathan Lloyd, Yui Kakinuma, Paul Chihara, Richard Michael and Howard Moody.
With a strong commitment to education and e special rapport with young people, Mr. Aiso enjoys working with children in schools for creative music workshops.
He also regularly visits Georgia and Moldova to work with handicapped children. He is a co-founder of Sagrado which offers a unique experience of meditation with classical music.
In addition, he has been invited to teach at international festivals including Sangat in Mumbai and Montecito Summer Music festival in the United States.

Ken is currently teaching faculty of Violin and Viola at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and La Sierra University in Riverside. He has co-founded Soundness Festival which brings awareness of classical music as healing medium, working with vibration in music meditation, singing and improvisation workshops. His work includes music at hospitals and institutions for special needs children.
